Things are starting to get exciting.
I have just had planning permission approved to convert a premises close to my home address into a childcare setting. This will be really good for the children as the property has 3 very large rooms in it and I plan to make each room into a bespoke age specific venue - for the different activities that we do.
The extra space will mean that I can increase the number of resources available for the children. Although this is moving away from the home based setting that I have provided for the last 8 years, I still plan to stick closely to the fundamental principles that I have applied in my home.
I feel that it is really important for the childrens development that they all integrate together, but in addition to this, I will be able to provide age specific groups / activities that will also stimulate the childrens development at many different levels.
In addition to this, I still plan on attending all the different external groups and activities that we currently do.
Work is due to start in January 2016 and I am hoping to be in the premises by February 2016.

Sorry for the lack of updates, we've been really busy with the children!! Last week we've been doing lots of Easter activities - The children did an Easter egg hunt in our garden and made Easter cards for their Mums and Dads. Last weekend I attended a HENRY training course at Manchester town hall. HENRY (Health Exercise Nutrition for the Really Young) - this has given me loads of ideas to implement in my setting. Hope you've all had a great Easter break Michelle

Last week, I was given the opportunity to talk at the Womens Labour Party Conference about affordability versus quality in child daycare.
What struck me the most was that nobody agreed with Elizabeth Truss's MP proposal to degregulate childminders.
I presented from my perspective the issues that deregulation would cause, namely the reduction in both quality and safeguarding in a homebased setting.
This week, we have been making cards for "grandparents day", looking at the change in season and collecting autumn leaves to make pictures as well as making plans for our halloween and christmas parties.

Ive just had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday with my family in Cyprus. I missed all the children so much whilst I have been away and it was good to start again this week.
We have a new group at my setting called "Groovy Babies" - this is a Stagecoach derived music and storytime based group aimed at developing social and confidence skills in the early years.
I have been asked to talk at a conference about my work around the intergration of my mindees with elderly people in the community. This is a fantastic way to further develop social and confidence skills further in the early years and the elderly people really enjoy seeing the children full of energy.
This week, we will be making harvest festival boxes and planting autuminal seeds in our vegetable patch.
